چکیده

The problem regarding the optimal placement and sizing of different FACTS (flexible alternating current transmission systems) in electrical distribution networks is addressed this research by applying a master–slave optimization approach. analyzed correspond to unified power flow controller (UPFC), thyristor-controlled shunt compensator (TCSC, also known as thyristor switched capacitor, or TSC), static var (SVC). master stage entrusted with defining location size each device using hybrid discrete-continuous codification through application black widow (BWO) slave corresponds successive approximations method based on admittance grid formulation, which allows determining expected costs energy losses for one-year operation period. numerical results IEEE 33-, 69-, 85-bus grids demonstrate that best locating SVC, given that, when compared UPFC TCSC, it possible reduction equivalent annual investment operating cost. A comparative analysis General Algebraic Modeling System software, aim solve exact mixed-integer nonlinear programming model, demonstrated proposed BWO approach’s effectiveness radial networks. Reductions about 12.63% 13.97% concerning benchmark cases confirmed SVC option reactive compensation grids.

Optimal Siting and Sizing of Wind Farms

In this paper, we propose a novel technique to determine the optimal placement of wind farms, thereby taking into account wind characteristics and electrical grid constraints. We model the long-term variability of wind speed using a Weibull distribution according to wind direction intervals, and formulate the metrics that capture wind speed characteristics at a specific location, namely the ari...

Optimum Siting and Sizing of Shunt Capacitors in Radial Distribution System using Novel BPSO Algorithm

Consolidation of shunt capacitors plays an important role in radial distribution networks. Among many of their merits, line loss and total harmonic distortion (THD) reduction, voltage profile improvement and reactive power compensation can be the salient specifications of shunt capacitors. Studies show that non-optimal locations shunt capacitor units lead to increase loss, together with bad eff...

UPFC Siting and Sizing in Power Network Using Two Different Evolutionary Algorithm

In emerging electric power systems, increased transactions often lead to the situations where the system no longer remains in secure operating region. The flexible Ac transmission system (FACTS) controllers can play an important role in the power system security enhancement. However, due to high capital investment, it is necessary to locate these controllers optimally in the power system. FACTS...
